Final Address

Thank You for the “hospice hands” and the ability to see someone transition from here.

For the slow reflection of the things we take for granted and the things we do not deserve.

All that You have protected us from and the angels assigned to guard Your beloved who believe.

There’s life, breathing, reflecting and remembering. Laughing, tears and for some, forgiveness.

Pain and disbelief. Some anger and lots of unanswered questions.

But in the silence, the stillness, there is mercy. The grace is so very evident. It always has been.

We are owed nothing. We deserve nothing. But yet Your love, it follows us to the end.

Where human beings fail, where life disappoints, where the medical professionals get it wrong, there is hope.

Hope in the One who bled and died so that death would not be the end. It would be the welcoming home.

It would be the long awaited family reunion with the One who calls us beloved, adopted us, and is patiently waiting to see us.
