You and I

if i could take you by the hand
and lead you through my woods,
i'd show you things you've never known,
you've never understood-

the beauty of a naked tree outlined against the sky,
the sound of birds that we could hear,
a raven gliding by,
we'd stand beneath a giant pine
that grows so straight and tall,
we'd gaze through branches to the sky
and know that we are small.

shadows mingle with the sun,
they stretch across the floor,
they touch the ridges, rocks and swamp
my very spirit soars!

if i could share all this with you
and know you understand
you'd find peace that seep within,
it's there for every man.
