although summer is my very favorite time of the year
my eyes simply love the ritual of the autumn leaves
the amazing array of colors and the gentle way
that they fall to the ground below
such beauty and grace as they
quietly detach themselves from the
branches eager to reach the earth
it happens so quickly that if you blink
you may fail to realize there's a rainbow of
another form right beneath your feet
do you even take notice or are
you so consumed with your life
and the things of this world
busy stepping on them as you go from
one place to another rushing toward
nowhere
