Everyone loves Valentine’s Day. It comes…it goes. The search for the “in the moment” perfect card. The flowers “extremely overpriced” will soon die. The chocolate almost always gets picked over…trust me, been there. The “romantic dinner” slowly digested, and the diamond(s)…the excitement of it eventually fades as life continually happens. Each year is a challenge or competition on how to do “it bigger or better.”
None of my loves were from a place of wholeness. Each of them were an “extended season” based on that portion of my life. There were always quiet longings and temporary “stand ins” for those youthful years of countless, unmet expectations. Each love was an attempt to “unconsciously” fix, mend or replace the broken parts of me. A "man-made" shelter for my heart from all the exhaustion, in my soul's desperate search of “that” thing called wholeness!”
In walks Jesus Christ! An all-consuming fire that no other love can extinguish!!! His love is unmatched and unchanging! Filling in every human void. His love is not a day on the “calendar” but a sacrificial gift to all who are in search of real love, true love and eternal love!
