Prose : What Virus?

So many new words have been spreading like wildfire and it's so not #gospel.  Social distancing is a new way of life for almost every single person living.  Face mask are now highly recommended as we leave our homes and move about in society.  No touching and no hugging signs are posted all throughout my neighborhood.  Washing your hands is now required and not optional!

The number of people now affected and the death toll are the first topics of every news report.  The unemployment numbers have surpassed the great depression.  The stock market still gets its daily appearance in the seconds it takes to report whether it dropped or rose.  The long awaited stimulus checks have been ordered to be stamped with the president's signature before they are mailed out...(why?)

The PPE is still in great demand.  Not to mention the ventilators which are the breath of life.  At least in the medical profession.  The "First Line Responders" have never been so popular and so appreciated.  Parents have been forced to homeschool and it has been quite the nightmare.  The word "Closed" is displayed on 95% of our stores and churches.  Who knows how the airlines will survive and when the travel ban will lift.  And I praise God that some hotels have opened to the homeless community.  Not to mention, some prisoners are being released early...it has truly become a matter of life and death.

All of this because in mid December, something called the "coronavirus" began to infect poeple in China.  And then as a result of comingling and travel about, people were unaware that it was in the atmosphere and has to date taken the lives of 145,417, globally.  The number of human beings being treated are now 2,179,905 and counting.  So many have yet to be tested.  So many have no idea if they are carrying the virus.  And so many have no idea if they will die next.  This thing is no respecter of person.

However, I refuse to succumb to fear.  Before this virus, Jesus Christ was Lord.  In the midst of this virus, Jesus is still Lord.  And after this virus, JESUS WILL STILL BE LORD!!!  Years ago He asked me to do one of the toughest things in my life: To trust Him.  I took the biggest leap of faith and said, "Yes!"

Then the journey began.  It was as small and as simple as a #penny.  It says "In God We Trust."  Do we really?!  Yes, I do.  It was a journey and a process, but Yes I do!  I so do.  And since I said, Yes, He's been reminding me.  During my prayer walks, I'm still finding coins.  Mostly pennies and mostly in places where the natural eye would not see them.  But, Lord, I see them.  I see YOU!  I call them "corona coins."  The ones I'm finding during this pandemic.  Yep, in the midst of this, I am still trusting Him.

As should you!  "Psalm 112:7" Not in the quarantine or the vaccine but in the blood of Jesus Christ!

Beloved, you can focus on the virus or you can put your faith in Jesus Christ and stand in the Victory.  To live is to give God glory and to die is to be with Him.
